Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Raw Chia Seeds

Hemp, or Cannabis sativa, is a plant which grows naturally in many temperate climates across the globe. One of the oldest plants, this remarkable superfood has been harnessed by many cultures for an assortment of uses. Hemp protein powder is made from the plant’s ground seed, it has a pleasant, nutty taste which makes it easy to consume as a food ingredient. Sevenhills Wholefoods’ hemp seeds are cleaned, sorted, then pressed to extract the oil. The resulting ‘cake’ is then milled to a powder.

  • Organic variety, grown naturally in South America without the use of pesticides
  • Raw, processing temperatures remain below 45°C to retain vitamins and minerals
  • Recommended use: try in baked goods, sprinkled raw on salads, in smoothies, or drunk with water and lime juice; consume up to 15g per day
  • Chia can also be used as an egg replacement in baking

Searching for the finest superfoods

The journey starts with the quest to find which wholefoods are superfoods–those which are nutrient-rich and have a variety of health benefits. The next step is to find the places around the world where the best variety of that wholefood is grown. Then the team search for the producers and farmers whose approach and values match those of Sevenhills Wholefoods. As most products are seasonal, the team work closely with the farmers, developing long term partnerships which enable them to sustain their livelihoods between harvest cycles and allow Sevenhills Wholefoods to have products available year-round.

Sevenhills Wholefoods Supports Charity Projects Around the World

Network for Africa Uganda, Sevenhills Wholefoods

Kids Club Kampala, Uganda

UK charity working to improve the future prospects of children in the slum communities of Kampala, Uganda. Sevenhills Wholefoods worked with Kids Club Kampala to provide informal education classes to extremely poor children who would otherwise have no access to schooling, and supported the charity’s third project in the Namuwongo slum providing 100 3-11 year olds with basic education. Children receive a hot meal and the centre remains open after school as a safe location, away from the danger and temptations of drug use, to do homework, ask questions, get help and receive food.

The Lunchbowl Network, Kenya

The charity initially operated one kindergarten school in Kibera, the biggest slum in Kenya, which provided for 55 children. Sevenhills Wholefoods helped the charity launch their second larger site accommodating up to 150 children. The Lunchbowl Network was able to provide the opportunity to learn and play in a clean, safe, stimulating, caring and respectful environment. Parents and carers readily recognised their children were becoming healthier and happier, less withdrawn, talking more English, and had improved reading and writing ability, evidence their lives were beginning to be transformed at an early age.

Network for Africa, Uganda

The charity works with communities in the aftermath of conflict and genocide, helping the forgotten survivors after disaster relief moves on. Sevenhills Wholefoods assisted the charity to extend their work into the war-torn Agogo District, Uganda, where people lived in overcrowded camps. People were encouraged to test for HIV, start treatment, and supported through better access to services, counselling and medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women received advice and support needed to prevent mother-to-child transmission. Work was done in the local community to reduce the stigma surrounding the disease.
